A protective court order is different from a peace order in that protective orders are usually occur between family members or can involve physical issues such as assaults or sexaual acts.

Protective orders can be requested against a party that will include a person someone who has a child with you, someone that you have had sexual relationship with, a person with you have resided with you in the home for ninety days within the last year, certain relatives by blood, marriage, or adoption, an adult person who does not have the physical or mental capacity to provide for their daily needs, children,parents, stepchildren, or stepparents of either you or that resided with either you or the other party for ninety days.

Legal Terms
